Brief Introduction of our Founders
Dr. Veeranna Mathikatti
Dr. Veeranna Mathikatti is the founder of Shri Basaveshwara Rural Education & Development Trust®, Sattur, Dharwad, Karnataka. The Education Trust was established in the year 2004. Dr. Veeranna Mathikatti had a vision right from his College days to uplift down trodden people of rural & urban area to educate the poor and needy people and to encourage the weaker sector people in developing their personality. He is the most senior politician of this era with simple living being & high thinking.
Dr. Veeranna Mathikatti was born in Yavagal Tq. Ron on 01-11-1948 in a well known agriculturist family. The family was known for its generosity.
Dr. Veeranna Mathikatti completed his Primary & Secondary Education at Ron and later he completed higher education at Dharwad, by obtaining B.Sc., LLB. and M.A. (Post Graduate) from Karnataka University. He has been awarded with Doctorate Degree by Rani Chennamma University Belagavi for his noble work rendered in social service.
As a youth he involved in social service working for the society and within a short period he became popular among the public and he was chosen as the Director of PLD Bank Ron in the year 1973 upto 1979, Chairman, TAPCMS Ron from 1974-1979. In the year 1978 he contested for Member of Legislative Assembly election from Ron Constituency and was elected as M.L.A. for the period from 1978-1983 later he was a Parliamentary Candidate for Dharwad North Lok-sabha election in the year 1999. He has served as Deputy Leader, & Leader of Opposition Karnataka Legislative’s Council and Ex-Chairman, Legislators Housing Co-operative Society Bangalore

3)Served as former general Secretary K.P.C.C. Bangalore.
4) Former Member AlCC New Delhi.
5) Served as President Karnatak Progressive Youth forum Dharwad.
6) Served as President Karnatak Pradesh Youth Congress Committee, Bengaluru.
7) National Council Member of All India youth congress Committee during 1978-82 (New Delhi).
8)Served as President Dharwad Rural District Congress Committee un divided, Dharwad district.
Dr. Veeranna Mathikatti has also visited various country’s viz., Italy, France, England, Switzerland, Netherlands, Germany, USSR, Japan, Hong Kong, during (1976 to 2009) to know the development of those countries in the field of Education
Technology, Agriculture and he has shared his views, thoughts in development of our State & Country.
His love for education has made him the Chairman of Shri Basaveshwar Rural Education & Development Trust Sattur, Dharwad and he is also the President of the Trust.
Shri Sharanappa M. Kotagi(Mathikatti)
Shri Sharanappa M. Kotagi (Mathikatti) is a dynamic person, who is instrumental in the development of Shri Basaveshwara Rural Education & Development Trust®, Sattur, Dharwad. Shri Sharanappa M. Kotagi (Mathikatti) along with his elder brother Honorable MLC Dr. Veeranna Mathikatti had dreamt of starting educational institutions. The dream came true by the efforts of Shri Sharanappa M. Kotagi (Mathikatti).
He established Shri Basaveshwara Rural Education & Development Trust® in the year 2004. Initially Shri Sharanappa M. Kotagi (Mathikatti) started with D. Ed.,college then B.Ed, M.Ed. colleges at Sattur, Dharwad. Later in the year 2012 he started Shri Sathya Sai College of Homoeopathic Medical Science and Hospital® at Sattur, Dharwad.
Shri Sharanappa M. Kotagi (Mathikatti) was born in Ron on 22-7-1965 Taluk Ron, District Gadag, in a well known agriculturist’s family. His father and their fore fathers have been traditionally noted for agriculture and they had the concern tor the betterment of rural people. Their family has sacrificed for betterment of the community towards the path of prosperity by serving people by motivating society. Shri Sharanappa M. Kotagi (Mathikatti) completed his Primary and Secondary Education at Ron. Right from his student days he has followed the root prints of his elder brother. Shri Veeranna Mathikatti by actively involving him in social service.
Shri Sharanappa M. Kotagi (Mathikatti) has undergone in various learning processes.
1) Learning for Rural Development through international experience by getting an Occasional to visit few nations to learn more about issues related to Rural Developments, in the field of Agriculture, Water Management, Decentralized Governance. In this connection he has visited countries like Israel, China, Dubai, Kuwait & Srilanka to acquire knowledge in modern agriculture and he has imparted the acquired knowledge of modern techniques in agriculture to our country men.
Shri Sharanappa M. Kotagi (Mathikatti) is associated with many organizations and he is the President, as well as an active life member of Kannada Sahitya Parishat,Sharan Sahitya Parishat, Akhil Bharath Veerashaiva Mahasabha and Karnataka Pradesh Krishika Samaj.
Shri Sharanappa M. Kotagi (Mathikatti) was inspired by the ideology of Mahatma Gandhiji,Smt. Indira Gandhiji, Shri. Rajeev Gandhiji which made him to join the Congress Party. His dedication, commitment and involvement in the party work, fetched him the responsible post of Vice Chairman Pradesh Congress Committee, Kissan & Keth Mazdur Congress, Parisar Sourakshan Jagratha Vedike. Now he is presently adoring the post of Vice President of National Federation of Homoeopathic Medical College & Hospitals Association®, Shri Sharanappa M.Kotagi (Mathikatti). Right from his student days he was involved in social service and worked for the society. He has helped poor & down trodden people in sanctioning loans from Government of Karnataka & helping young people in seeking self employment opportunities. Likewise he has also helped poor students belonging to SC/ST & other backward class people by sanctioning Bicycles, Books, Scholarships etc.,
He is actively involved in organizing regular Eye Camps, Blood Donation Camps,& Free Health Checkup Camps, Vana Mahostva’s at Slum & Rural areas of Dharwad & Gadag Districts. Shri Sharanappa M. Kotagi (Mathikatti) is also organizing regular religious functions &Debates on various issues.
